This is our first cruise on Splendor. It is a 27 night cruise from Barcelona to New York but spends time sailing up the St Lawrence to visit Quebec City and Montreal plus other Canadian cities. Should see some fall foliage on this cruise.

DAY 19---QUEBEC CITY - SECOND VISIT

Sunny and 55F this morning but will warm up into 70's later.  Somehow Rebecca caught a cold and had trouble breathing last night.

LAST EVENING

Our jalapeno poppers in the Meridian Lounge to start the evening.
At 6:30 we went up to Prime 7.  There is a nice little bar just outside of it.  Aditya is from northern India.
Tojo, maitre d, had a nice window table for us to watch us sail the St Lawrence River.
I started with this diver scallop on pork belly confit.  I was expecting a larger scallop.  They brought me a couple more scallops.
                                                            Clam chowder was next.
We both had half orders of iceberg wedge salads.  We had them chop the wedge up.
We both ordered the creole style jumbo shrimp.  It wasn't spicy as advertised and the shrimp definitely were not jumbo.  I sent mine back.
I then had this 6 ounce filet which was perfectly cooked and very good.
                                                                    Popcorn sundae.
                                                              Dru introducing the show

                                                           This show was very good.

TODAY

Photos taken from our balcony.  We finally have a good view.  Looks like they are getting ready for an outdoor concert.
Folks heading out for tours this morning.

                                                                     Cafe Du Monde
The very historic, Chateau Frontenac on the upper part of the city.  It opened in 1893 and is a Fairmont hotel with 610 rooms and suites.  I will be having high tea there this afternoon as part of my tour.

                                                               Customs building
At 9:40 I headed out to a pharmacy that I had located on Google Maps and was not to far away.  Turned out to be a 15 minute fast walk each way.  But it was a nice morning for a walk.  I wore a light jacket but soon took it off.  There were some photo opportunities on the way.
                                                                   Naval museum
                                                                  Place to sit and rest
                                                                  Very nice park.
Not sure what this building was but next to the train station.
                                                             Train and bus station
I found the pharmacy and got Rebecca some Dristan spray.  Hope it helps her sleep better tonight.
Interesting way to water planters along the road.        You may recall how they walked kids in yesterday's post in Montreal.  Well, today they were on a leash.
I was back on board at 10:40 and added the photos I tool on my walk to the pharmacy.  Rebecca did not do her treadmill time this morning but decided to rest her cold.
Terry was my tour guide today.  He was very good.
My tour departing on foot at 1pm.
I thought this as a playground when I took previous photo from our balcony.  Half of the chairs were sitting in water.  What's that about??
A LOT of walking on this tour.

                                                                 Outside restaurant door.
                                                     Notre Dame des Victoires church
Interesting mural painted on this building facade.

Terry said original buildings were built with wood and a fire destroyed them all.  Now all buildings must be of brick or stone with metal roofs.  Note there is a divider between these three buildings.  It
runs all the way through and acts as a fire wall in case one catches on fire.
                                                     Street with shops and restaurants.
Thankfully we took the funicular up the hill to the Chateau Frontenac.  Cost was $6 but included in the tour.
We did not take these stairs.

Nice views of the St Lawrence River from up there.
                                                                        Post office
                                                                 Long board walk

Front side of Chateau Frontenac.  Sun was not in good place for this photo.
Side view.  Not tilting but just my phone camera
                                                            Still side of the hotel.

Citadel of Quebec sitting on highest hill of Quebec.  Old fortress protecting the city in 17th & 18th centuries.  Still an active military base.

Now having high tea in the Chateau Frontenac.  I had this table for 2.
I just had water, not tea.  Also had a biscuit.
They brought this to my table.  Bottom two tiers were sandwiches and top was sweets.
This is all I had.  Saving up for dinner at Pacific Rim tonight.
I told Terry I was leaving the tour group and heading back down the hill on my own.  He was very nice and gave me a map and explained how to get back down.  It just took me 20 minutes to get back to the ship.  Looked a lot further.

Back on board I started working on adding my tour photos on the blog.  Got that done and hit the shower as I did a little sweating on the tour.  I dressed for colder weather but was nice and warm.
This evening we are dining in Pacific Rim (Asian specialty restaurant) with Cathi and John Begg.  It is John's birthday today.  Reservation is for 7pm.  The ship is sailing again at 6pm.  We definitely want to see the show tonight.  It is featuring headliner Kenny James, a male vocalist.  We have seen him perform on Regent and is an EXCELLENT performer.
