This is our first cruise on Splendor. It is a 27 night cruise from Barcelona to New York but spends time sailing up the St Lawrence to visit Quebec City and Montreal plus other Canadian cities. Should see some fall foliage on this cruise.

DAY 10---CROSSING ATLANTIC OCEAN ENROUTE TO NEWFOUNDLAND

IF YOU MISS A DAY OR MORE, THERE IS A "BLOG ARCHIVE" ON THE RIGHT SIDE BELOW THE PHOTO OF US.  JUST CLICK ON THE DATE YOU MISSED.

This is our position at noon today shown on maps by triangle in a circle.  We have sailed 390 nm since leaving Horta and have another 800 nm left before arriving in St John's day after tomorrow.  It is 73 outside today with a wind of 20 kts gusting to 25 kts.  Wave height of 8 feet so the ride so far is not bad.  However at noon the Captain said later on the wind would pick up and our ride would get worse.  The ocean depth here is 11,000 feet.
                                                      Looking out our balcony today.

LAST EVENING

We went down to the theater at 5:45 for the cocktail party
Ice carving of an "R" for Regent.
Captain Ubaldo greeting us to start things off.
Our Cruise Consultants, Pippa and Eddie, hosted the party.
They called up on stage the crewmembers who were nominated for "crewmember of the month".  There were 8 or so nominees.  A guy from the engine room won the award.  After the program three of the cast singers performed 3 songs.  Rebecca and I skipped that and headed to the Meridian Lounge.
I had this Grey Goose martini and Rebecca a glass of wine while we waited on our 4 dinner guests.
We were to meet our dinner guests there after the party.  Unfortunately, the 3 orchestra members started playing right after they showed up.  We could not hear each other talk due to their loud music so we just headed to Compass Rose.
From left to right:  Rebecca of course, Emmett, Linda, Keith, Isabel, and me.  Ok, Linda Gentille is an incredible pianist.  We have seen her show many times and are amazed each time.  Isabel is a Dutch singer with a lovely voice.  We have also seen her shows previously and her first show was the night before.  In addition to an amazing voice, she is very attractive.  Emmett and Keith we had just met the night before.  They are a hoot!!  They are Canadian but spend winters in Mexico.
Keith took this photo of us and emailed it to my this morning.  I think it is very good.
We all had an amazing time sharing stories during dinner.  I think the 3 bottles of this special Rombauer chardonnay that I had ordered helped loosen the tongues.  It was one of the best evenings we have spent of our cruises.  Rohan was our sommelier again tonight.  He pays special attention to our table every night.
Rebecca and I started with Caesar salads.  I might note that the first time we had ordered Caesars the romaine lettuce had many stems.  There were NONE tonight.  Spoiled again!!  As always the above miso glazed sea bass melted in our mouths. SOOOO good!  Served with sticky rice.  I had asparagus and Rebecca had green beans (in honor of Marcia Rector whose birthday is today, September1st).
I had this decadent white chocolate croissant pudding with berries.
It was 9:30 when we finished our wonderful dinner and the dance party had already started in the atrium.  Linda had to go up and change clothes.  I took a few photos and headed to the suite.  Rebecca went back down to the party for a half hour or so.

The production cast singers were singing ABBA and QUEEN songs.
A few of the orchestra were playing
Our clocks moved back an hour tonight.  The crew loves the extra sleep.  The ride last night was not too rough as the long swells died down.

TODAY

This morning Rebecca said her room service omelet was hot and very good.  I had a muffin with our Americano coffees.  I did my fast walk around our deck hallways.  It takes me 4 minutes to one circuit.  I did 10 laps so was a 40 minute walk.  I then did some of my back physical therapy exercises before showering.  Rebecca went to the fitness center to do her treadmill time.  I then worked on the blog until noon.
We went up to Prime 7 again for lunch as Dara was our waitress again.  I started with today's soup, potato and carrot.  It was very hot and very good.
Then I had the panko coated fried cod.
The chef is making Rebecca this marinated cheddar cheese with olive oil and red pepper flakes.  She takes it to the suite for an afternoon snack.
This afternoon I called my sister, Kathy Kitley, as today is her birthday.  I won't mention which one!  Then Rebecca called her very good friend, Kaye Hill, back in the Dallas area.  Due to our Diamond status we get 7 hours of free phone time.  The connection is very good.
We got good news today from our son's email saying that the Dallas Cowboys vs Philadelphia Eagles NFL game on this Thursday night will be televised on Amazon Prime Video.  We have that app and since we have paid extra for "streaming" will be able to watch it.

Today's Compass Rose menu.  Love the hearts of palm salad but nothing grabs me entree wise.  Debated going up to Sette Mari again but decided not to.
Same pre-dinner routine so I won't go into that again.  Tonight's show is featuring our friend, Linda Gentille.  She is an amazing pianist.  We shall be on the front row for that.
Short post today.  Think I will work on some crossword puzzles and maybe even find another cruise to book.
