This is our first cruise on Splendor. It is a 27 night cruise from Barcelona to New York but spends time sailing up the St Lawrence to visit Quebec City and Montreal plus other Canadian cities. Should see some fall foliage on this cruise.

DAY 11---STILL CROSSING THE ATLANTIC OCEAN

NOW TO SEE THE AUGUST POSTS, YOU WILL HAVE TO CLICK ON THE MONTH "AUGUST" ON THE "BLOG ARCHIVE" TO THE RIGHT BELOW OUR PHOTO.  THEN IT WILL SHOW ALL THE AUGUST DATES.  CLICK ON THE DAY OR DAYS YOU MISSED.

This is not our current position as took this photo yesterday just to show distance and route to St John's.
This is our position at noon today (triangle in circle).
We have sailed 804 nm since leaving Horta and have another 383 nm to go before docking in St John's on Newfoundland tomorrow morning by 11am.  We are receiving a much better ride now as winds only 10 kts and wave height of 8 feet.  Captain Ubaldo said it was 64 degrees outside but feels colder,  Depth of the ocean is 14,600 feet.

LAST EVENING

Keith & Emmett joined us in the Meridian Lounge for pre-dinner cocktails.  They then headed to their favorite dining venue, Pacific Rim.  We headed to Compass Rose.  They had not been up to Sette Mari for dinner so we made plans for the 4 of us dine there tomorrow night.  I'm in charge of ordering the veal parmesans!  Correction, I said Keith and Emmett spent their winters in Mexico but I found out the live in Puerto Vallarta full time now.
This one of our favorite salads:  marinated hearts of palm with tomatoes and lettuce.  We ask them also put on some avocado.  Delish!!
This is Nick.  He is assisting Meldin, our waiter.
Kadek, head sommelier, came by and recommended this Criss Cross zinfandel from Lodi, California.  Here Rohan us presenting the wine.  After it opened up in my glass for 15 minutes it was really good.  My favorite red so far.
Rebecca ordered one of the daily specials:  Grilled salmon filet on Beluga lentils with a champagne beurre blanc sauce.  She ordered the salmon cooked rare and it was perfect.
I, on the other hand, did not care for any of the daily specials so I ordered this veal scallopini with a caper butter sauce and spaghetti with a garlic butter sauce.  The spaghetti was good but veal not so good.
I told Denver, our head waiter, they should take the veal scallopini off the menu.
                                                              Creme Brulee was good.

We finished dinner early so went to the suite for a few minutes as the theater doors do not open until 9:00 for the 9:30 shows.  However I did one of my sneaky tricks and opened the door about 5 minutes early and walked in.  One of the stage managers saw me and we had a nice chat.  As I was first one in the theater I grabbed front row, center seats for Linda Gentille's show.
                                                   Cruise Director introducing Linda.
They had a camera showing Linda's hands while playing.

Linda saw us on front row and mentioned our names.
She did a quick change of dresses for her last number.  Both dresses were beautiful.
After her show we got to talk briefly with her.  That afternoon she had sent one of her CD's up to our suite.  She is a special friend!

Back in our suite I het the hay as usual but Rebecca stayed up. Moved our clocks back an hour and 30 minutes (I know, weird!!) so extra sleep for the crew.  It was a pretty rocky night as the Captain had predicted.  We have experienced much worse however.

TODAY

I woke up at 6am but laid there until 7:00.  We got up early and I headed down to get our 2 Americano coffees.
We had scheduled our room service breakfast for 8am and they were right on time again.  I also ordered a cheese omelet for this morning.  The first few days Rebecca said her eggs were not that hot and mentioned it.  Now the omelets are hot.  She asks for siracha sauce to spice her omelet up.  Not me!
I only walked 5 laps around the hallway today as my back acted up after yesterday's 10 laps.  Rebecca hit the treadmill.  I ran up to La Veranda to talk to Rey, the Sette Mari maitre d, about dining there this evening and requesting veal parmesans as it is again not on the menu.
Theme of today's menu in La Veranda is Indian foods.  I don't care for them.  So I got some items from the buffet.
I got these for my starters:  anchovies, shrimp, muscle, blue cheese, and gravlax.
Then I went out to the pool grill and ordered these lobster nachos.

                                                  Pretty smooth sailing this afternoon.
Tonight's Compass Rose menu.  We will be going up to Sette Mari instead.

Another short post today.  There are lots of activities on sea days but we choose to just relax in our suite.  I have been looking at more cruises to book as booking on board has some nice advantages.  I just made an appointment to speak with Pippa, a Cruise Consultant, day after tomorrow as it is another sea day.  My big problem is Rebecca does not want to cruise during football season.  We already have 3 cruises booked in 2026.  I would like to add another.
We will be going to a party for "Top Tier" Seven Seas Society members at 5:45.  I believe that includes Platinum, Titanium, and us Diamonds.  No Commodores on board.  If everyone shows up that would be about 130 guests at the party.  There will a special Cabaret performance with entertainers, Isabel Commandeur and Linda Gentille.  We're looking forward to it.
After the performance we will head up to Sette Mari for dinner with Emmett and Keith.  The show tonight at 9:30 in the theater features Isabel Commandeur's second show.  Definitely want to be there.
Hoping for a nice day tomorrow in St John's.  Forecast high temperature is 65F.
